Apples, Toasted

This crisp has an admittedly high ratio of topping to fruit. Topped with ice cream, it tastes like a heavenly apple, oatmeal ice cream sandwich. Really the apples are just there to make you feel better about eating a boozy ice cream sandwich for breakfast. Can you think of a better way to start to a holiday weekend? If so, please share!

Apple Crisp
3 Braeburn Apples, peeled and sliced
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 TBLSP Bourbon
1/8 cup brown sugar

1/4 butter, softened
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 flour
1/4 cup walnuts
1/2 cup oats
1/2 tsp vanilla
pinch nutmeg
pinch salt
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine apples, cinnamon, bourbon, and brown sugar in a bowl. Toss gently to combine, then pour into a 9 inch pie plate or a gratin dish.
Next, mix together the rest of the ingredients in your empty apple bowl. Use clean hands to crumble the topping over the apples. Bake for thirty minutes. Allow to cool a bit then serve with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream.

I love the way apple crisp makes the kitchen smell.
